ABOUT KALLE PEURA

Kalle Peura is a versatile and accomplished Finnish pianist whose artistry seamlessly bridges the traditional and the innovative. After discovering the piano at age 13, his early explorations of Blues and Jazz transitioned into a passion for classical music, inspired by the works of Chopin. Guided by his first teacher, a Georgian concert pianist, Peura began his formal training at the Helsinki Conservatory of Music before earning a Bachelor's degree in Chamber Music from the Academy of Music and Opera at Mälardalen University in Sweden, a Master's degree in Soloistic Interpretation from the Liceu Conservatory in Barcelona, and a Recital Artist’s Diploma at the Royal Irish Academy of Music in Dublin, where he graduated in 2024.

As a recitalist, Peura captivates audiences with his inventive programming, blending canonical works by Bach, Beethoven, and Chopin with lesser-known gems that draw from Jazz, Blues, and folk dance traditions. Highlights include Afro-Cuban dances by Lecuona, Schulhoff’s folk-inspired sonatas, and Martinu's Blues pieces. His dedication to chamber music is equally impressive, having collaborated in over 30 ensembles, including piano sextets, Lied duos, and the PAUHA Trio, which focuses on Finnish contemporary music.

Peura’s talent as a soloist has been widely recognized. He debuted with the Irish National Symphony Orchestra in 2023, performing Rachmaninov’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini at the National Concert Hall in Dublin. In 2024, he took the stage at Ireland’s National Opera House to perform Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue with the Wexford Sinfonia, followed by Ravel’s Concerto for the Left Hand with the UCD Orchestra.

Committed to education, Peura has been an active piano teacher in Dublin and regularly shares his expertise through masterclasses and private lessons. A passionate advocate for creative collaborations, his recent projects include performances of violin sonatas by Grieg, Enescu, and Martinu with the Jaworek/Peura duo and an international chamber music tour spanning Dublin, London, Paris, and Salzburg.

Peura’s artistry continues to enchant audiences across Europe, showcasing his dynamic range and unwavering dedication to the piano.
